The Mexican Rooster Wake-Up Call
Published by August 22nd, 2007 in Hero Holiday and Featured. ClosedThe morning started bright and early today with the help of the neighbourhood roosters. What else to do but get up and on our way? It was another hot day, we toured the sites, met the families we will be building for and getting to know this week and hit a couple of previous Hero Holiday builds.

A before shot of one of the structures that a family was living in. They tore it down when the floor was poured and in six short days will be moving into a new place with walls, windows, and a roof that will keep out rain.

An awesome group of good-lookin’ young Canadians standing on the pad for Site 2. (more…)
They are here safe and sound, been to the beach and crashing around the campfire getting to know each other better. Tomorrow, Awareness Tour Day, complete with a trip to a street market and a stop off at a sunken ship. But first, some sleep.

Published by August 15th, 2007 in Hero Holiday and Mainpage. ClosedHello everyone!
All summer, in the communities that we have been working in with Hero Holiday, we would throw a big community party at the end of the trip… We had so much fun doing it in other countries, that we thought we would do it one last time in Canada!
Absolute would like to invite YOU to come and party with us one last time before we say good-bye to summer!
We are having an end-of-summer BBQ at our Absolute Main Office in Hamilton, on Friday, August 31, 2007 at 6:00 PM…
Please come and be our guest and enjoy catching up with old and new friends! There will be many of us there who have been on different Hero Holidays, are friends of Absolute, or are just wanting to hang out. We will have great food and great company!
If you are planning on coming, please email christal@absolute.org with your name and how many guests you will be bringing with you.
Hope to see you there!
It’s hard to believe this trip is coming to a close. Yesterday was an emotional day with all of our good-byes to the family we worked with for the last week. As I look out the window as we drive, I wonder how one survives this harsh climate day after day, year after year, […]

...continue readingSorry for the lengthy gap between updates. Our internet at the campground has not been working. Tonight I am sitting in the cutest little cafe. It’s been a busy couple of days. We have done two soccer camps, painted a day care centre and the roof is now up on the house. We are all […]

One of the objectives of this program is to educate our participants on why poverty exists and give them a greater understanding of the challenges that two-thirds of the world faces. Becky did a great job teaching us about the culture, why […]
